To ensure your outgoing emails are as reliable as possible, we’ve included the option for you to link your own SMTP credentials under Menu -> Settings -> SMTP Email Server. When you use your own mail server (like Microsoft 365, SendGrid, or Gmail), you take full control over your sender reputation. Instead of your messages being sent from our server which can sometimes be flagged as "bulk mail", they are sent directly through your authenticated business account. This not only makes your emails look more professional to your recipients but also guarantees the highest possible inbox placement. By providing your own credentials, you’re essentially "whitelisting" all emails sent by SimulArt, ensuring that your customers see your brand name in their inbox and that your critical alerts never get throttled or blocked. Here are the credentials you need to provide:
SMTP Host
This is the address of the server that will handle your outgoing mail. It tells the software exactly where to send the data on the internet.
Example:
smtp.gmail.com(for Google),smtp.mail.yahoo.com(for Yahoo), orpro.turbo-smtp.com.
SMTP Username
This is your ID. In almost all modern cases, this is simply the full email address you are sending from.
Example:
yourname@company.comorapp-notifications@gmail.com.
SMTP Password
This is the secret key that proves you own the account.
Note: If you use Gmail or Microsoft with Two-Factor Authentication, this is usually not your regular login password. Instead, you'll likely need to generate a specific "App Password" from your account settings to keep your primary password private.
Example:
abcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop(a typical 16-character App Password).
SMTP Port
Think of the Host as the building and the Port as the specific door you enter through. Different doors have different security rules.
Example (Port 587): The modern standard for secure email (TLS).
Example (Port 465): Used for older, encrypted connections (SSL).
Example (Port 25): The "old school" door, now rarely used because it isn't very secure.
